Nice things we come with:

✨ Experience living in high-functional cooperatives/households/shared spaces

✨ Stoke for life

✨ Caring stewardship of land and structures

✨ Care for personal health and health of the environment

✨ Conflict resolution skills and softness

✨ Love for and desire to understand all people

✨ Seeking shared values over rules 🙌.

✨ Balance with substance use - 0 visibility alcohol usually preferable.

✨ Body positive environment - comfort with non-sexual nudity (at least of others).

✨💛 If you're not scared off yet, perfect! Keep reading. What you seek is seeking you as well. 💛✨

The house is usually filled with people - our folks are generally: creative, musical, playful, thoughtful and very sweet. Peaceful queerdos who are kind communicators, looking for the same in our short or long-term guests. Join us for popcorn and movie nights, to celebrate the full and new moons, and for potlucks with food from the garden… etc!

I am a non-binary, trans-masculine person, with a deep love of people and zest for life. I love my work in the therapeutic industry - on track to become a therapist/chaplain, and also take much joy in being a local performer and producer of silly stuff. My kiddo is super-magical and brilliant weirdo, half-cat-identified 9-year-old. We have much experience and love living in community. Our wonderful housemates: a young future social worker/mycologist, genderful and full of song, into yoga and cooking (downstairs). At current for a few months we have a temp-stay jeweler/dancer/moon-loving recovery worker. We’re all looking to create a warm, magical and functional space in all areas of the house. "Tidiness" is key, "cleanliness" is greatly appreciated! We are looking to create a feeling of familial community, of openness and connection.

Locale: Our house is pretty central to Asheville - situated 10-15 min driving to most areas of town, 25 min walking to the Fine Arts Theatre downtown, 10 min walking from the RAD. We are grateful our neighborhood is mixed in race, age, class, ability and orientation - 🖤*insert brown heart!*🧡💛💚💙💜♥️ - conscientious that we are part of the greater gentrification of Asheville and can do our best to be a boon to our neighbors and neighborhood.

Rooms:

All have hardwood floors and plaster and lathe walls. ✨[One room is open for temp at this time - #1. North-Facing and one room possibly for permanent #2. East-facing]✨

1. North-facing: hand-paintedly very colorful, rust orange, elegant, Indian-inspired, fancy bohemian vibes. Has a small loft built and painted in, suitable sleeping for a child (or very small person) or storage and there is also a closet with hangers.

✨2. East-facing: has one teal wall, gold and black trim. It has lovely lighting for plants and a sweet window-seat nook - no closet, but clothes rack available.

3. West-facing: the largest (not yet fresh painted but is patched) and comes with a custom built-in loft with two closets. Loft fits a queen mattress below, and/or sleeps 300 lbs comfortably in the diagonal sleeping space above, about as long but narrower than a twin.

Upstairs kitchen (downstairs also available if upstairs is in use): remodeled from a porch a long while ago - full-sized fridge and stove, microwave, toaster oven, furnished/supplied with: large-ish kitchen rug, a sideboard as extra counter space, lighting, and small table and chairs for eating at - also some dishes/cutlery/pots and pans.

“Discrimination by race/origin, age, family status ('no kids' 'ideal for one'), disability, creed, sexual orientation, or income source is illegal under fair housing law. Describe premises, not people.”

Imaginative Non-requirements: maybe you are a world traveler looking to explore the vortex that is Asheville. Maybe you are a builder, carpenter or aerialist? Maybe you adore books. We would love to share our home with others who love healthy food and appreciate gardening. Musical creatures? Storytellers. Folks with Waldorf-style leanings/backgrounds (i.e. hand-making things, a bent toward the natural, low/no screen use, strong personal and seasonal rhythms, love of children) - ✨🌈 NOTE: Myself, my child and three others in our immediate family are high-risk for covid and thus are fully vaccinated - please mention your Covid needs and status in your reply. 🌈✨.

Please reply via CL email with the subject line “Spring Be Upon Us - Temp Stay” - tell us about yourself (i.e. what you are proud of/what projects you are working on), your temp-stay needs and anything that rings in vibe/a challenge or is exciting for you from this ad. Emails with a lot less than this info will not get a reply unless just asking about availability.

*Dogs - We are not picturing adding a dog for a temp stay, but … if they love cats, are oozing with chill vibes, never poo in the yard, are cared for at the utmost, and are service animals, no guarantees, but let’s talk. 💜
