The “Youth Mentor” is responsible for the daily supervision of 10-19 program participants grades K-12. S/he is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of all 9 program components and program activities in the program. The Mentor guides the academic and social development of children; ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment. Youth Mentors use a variety of resources, provided by the School Site Director/Program Coordinator to introduce new skills throughout the execution of activities. To accomplish this, Youth Mentors are required to participate in ongoing professional development and planning sessions with the Site Director/Program Coordinator on a scheduled basis.
Applicant must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent. Incumbent must be able to stand, sit, play, crawl, jump, swim, speak, hear, listen, observe, and supervise for extended periods of time. The Mentor must have knowledge and experience working with children and must be able to effectively manage children in a group setting, with strong communication skills and an eagerness to work and improve. Current certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid are required. The candidate must meet standards set by State Licensing Regulations, including passing a Staff Medical Exam, an annual negative TB result, and more. Additionally, the incumbent must have reliable transportation to travel to sites and centers. Spanish fluency is preferred, but not required. Please apply online AND submit a resume.
