Behold, the legendary 100w Silvertone 1485. This specimen has obviously lived a life, but electronically, is better than new. Sounds thunderous, the trem works great, and the reverb even works sometimes (but you'll wish it didn't, haha).
The History:
I got the head as a project off Reverb in 2015. Both OTs were blown, a resistor in the PI stage was blown, caps were original, still 2 prong cord, etc. I rebuilt it and found a matching 6x10 cab at the Asheville Guitar show a couple of years ago to complete the ensemble.
What has been done:
The head has:
- Mojotone replacement OTs
- F&T + Sprague electrolytic caps
- Mallory coupling caps
- Several badly drifted resistors replaced
- Tremolo circuit rebuilt
- 3 prong cord + remove polarity + death cap
- Pots replaced with Bourns (except reverb control)
- Fresh tubes throughout (no small feat, 4x6L6, 4x12ax7, 2x6cg7)
- Cleaned + tensioned sockets
I'll include the parts I replaced as well. I can't guarantee that I have every cap and resistor, but most everything should be there.
The cab has:
- 6 fresh Jensen C10Q speakers, not even broken in yet
As you probably know, this amp is essentially 2 Silvertone 1484s in one box. It has 2 independent output sections and requires 2 sets of speakers (3 10's each in this case). The output of the amp is a stereo jack (TRS) and wired for 4Ohm x 2. The cab is wired to match and I am including a TRS speaker cable to connect the two.
It sounds amazing, but it too big for me (both physically and sonically), so I am looking to send it on its next home. Looking for $1250 cash or open to trades (or cash + trade). I'm particularly interested in guitars, amps, bass stuff, synth stuff, etc, but willing to consider other stuff too, just hit me up.
