Neumann U87 / U67 - $3,000 (Asheville)

This is a Neumann U87ai microphone, retro-fitted with the Max Kircher U67 vacuum tube package. This modification turns the stock U87 into a lovely U67 tube clone, that tames the stock U87ai nasal midrange, and beefs up the lows. This mic. comes with a Max Kircher power supply, Neumann wood case, Neumann shock mount, cable, and 2 tube variations. The stock EF86 tube is warm and wooly (like a vintage U67). I will also include a vintage NOS (1960’s) Valvo EF86 tube (which has more sparkle and girth). Both sonic signatures are great (for different sources), and the tube swap is super easy (no tools needed).
The head basket has a slight impression on the top (see pics). It came that way, and I’ve had no issues with it —sounds terrific.

PCB layout closely follows the original to avoid messing with the complex filter network
