About the Role
Durham’s Cleaning Service is hiring a dependable, full-time Day Porter to keep an industrial manufacturing facility in Marion, NC clean, safe, and presentable throughout the day. This is a hands-on, active role for someone who takes pride in their work and shows up reliably. You’ll be the on-site presence keeping restrooms, break areas, offices, and common spaces in top shape while the plant is running.
What You’ll Do
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and locker rooms throughout the day — clean, sanitize, and restock soap, paper towels, and tissue
• Keep break rooms, cafeteria, and common areas clean, wiped down, and stocked
• Collect and remove trash and recycling from assigned areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot-clean floors; keep entryways and lobbies presentable
• Clean glass, doors, and high-touch surfaces
• Respond promptly to spills and cleanup requests during the shift, placing wet-floor signs as needed
• Restock cleaning and restroom supplies; notify supervisor when inventory runs low
• Report maintenance issues (leaks, damaged fixtures, safety hazards) to the site supervisor
• Follow all facility safety rules, wear required PPE, and maintain awareness of the industrial environment
What We’re Looking For
• 18 years or older
• Reliable transportation to the Marion facility (rural site — dependable transportation is essential)
• Able to stand and walk for a full shift, and to bend, reach, and lift up to 40 lbs
• Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required — we’ll train the right person
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
