condition: excellent

Appraised at $67,000 (see images). This unique, handcrafted necklace, bought in the early 1980s, was custom made and is truly one-of-a-kind! The Pearls have been evaluated by GIA (Gemology Institute of America) and received their HIGHEST ratings for surface appearance and lustre (see images). There is no evidence of wear on the pearls or gold.

The dark gray spherical pearl is a NATURAL Tahitian pearl from the Pinctada Magaritifera (black-lipped pearl oyster) and measures 9.8mm in diameter. It has aubergine, green, rose and silver overtones with excellent lustre and complexion.
There are 42 spherical Pinctada fucata (Akoya pearl oyster) cultured pearls with white body color and pinkish overtones measuring 6.15mm to 9.8mm in diameter, also with excellent lustre and complexion set to highlight the Tahitian Black Pearl. The graduated white pearls are wonderfully matched for size and color. Per GIA evaluation there is no indication these pearls have been treated despite the fact that Akoya pearls are routinely bleached.

The pearls are set in an unusual way, each hanging like a beautiful drop from its 14K yellow gold setting. The gold is marked "Italy" "585" and "IO" on the lobster claw clasp. The necklace measures 15.5" in length and consists of 6mm x 3mm hollow 14K yellow gold tubes with 3mm x 1mm 14k gold rondelles separating the graduated pearls. The gross weight is 46.3 grams.

Long a symbol of wisdom, innocence, beauty, purity and prosperity, pearls are always in style. This elegant necklace makes a spectacular gift! Think June birthdays or Wedding. A picture of the Certified Appraisal for this necklace is attached and represents what it would cost to have it re-created. I am asking $37,000 (well below its appraised value) and am willing to consider reasonable offers. Pdfs of the GIA evaluation and appraisal are available on request.
