A friend and I arrived to the area a few weeks ago from Montana with the intention of moving here. We had a month rental set up for when we got in so that we could get jobs right away and pay for something long term. Unfortunately, my living situation in MT forced us to leave much quicker than expected and during the drive out here a sale fell through back home leaving us unable to rent the place we had set up. With what little money we had left, after driving out here with 2 vehicles, 2 dogs, and 3 cats.. we decided that camping would be our safest bet. We've been roughin' it in pisgah since we got here, near wilsons creek, but depleting funds made it impossible for us to sell the truck back home at asking price so we sold it for 2 grand less than what it's worth. We're hoping that someone in this group, or someone you may know, might have a place available for a month. We can pay cash but probably nothing over $1000 and maybe a deposit. Even a place to park our vehicles (I've got a small slide in camper on my old pickup) that's closer to town or an address we can use so that at least one of us can get a job and transfer a drivers liscense. Even some odd jobs or work trade would be great. My friend and travel companion is a 47 yr old male with plenty of skillsets. Any jobs like concrete work, roofing, painting, outdoor work, auto mechanic work, handyman stuff or even a CDL liscense required job would be very doable. He grew up on a farm and has lived in Montana his entire life and is NOT afraid to work. I'm a 28 yr old female that also works really hard. I moved to MT in October of 2016 with little money, no plan, no contacts there and a deep desire to just go. I drove NW MT for 2 weeks before finding the town I fell in love with..I found a place that same day and a job 24 hours later. I was going to do whatever it took to start a life there so by the end of the first month I had 4 jobs. Montana is a very difficult place to make any kind of money, even just to get by, so I worked 7 days, 7 nights a week and only slept 4 hours a day (for 6 months straight) to make having a life there a possibility. The main reason my friend has joined me on this adventure is to get a truck driving job that pays real money. I'm back here because after living in the area back in 2014 i always knew this is where I'd eventually settle. I've lived in different states around the country, even lived on the road and out of my truck for a while but Asheville and the North Carolina Blueridge is the only place that has ever felt like home.
If anyone is able to help, even if its not close to town for now, we would greatly appreciate it! Ultimately, once we're settled, I'd like to be as close to town as possible so that I'm near the hospital and doctors offices. I have chronic illness and see various specialists and doctors for continuing treatment, probably around 15 in total. As long as I keep up with my treatment plans I do pretty well for long periods of time but it's just another reason that getting transfered quickly is so important. Had things with my prior living arrangement in MT not gotten so chaotic we would've had much more time to plan and get things taken care of. Everything happened so fast we didn't have time to think. It was packing as fast as we could and leaving which also meant renting a storage unit as soon as we got here.
Normally, roughin' it and living out of my camper for a while isn't a big deal but with 5 animals between us and camping this far out it hasn't been easy. Anyway, i'll end this post here but if you're someone able to help and need more information I will happily answer any questions you might have in email.
Thanks a bunch!
