Wide seat. The seat is 14" from the floor. The seat is 20.5" wide and 17" (measured from back legs). The seat is comfortably plump (not flat). There IS staining (as you can see on the photos). Two types of legs (rolling ones in the front with wood rollers). Unusual chair! I didn't try to remove the stains. Also, some people who buy antique chairs like to re-upholster them to fit in with their present decor. One photo shows the back (the front top is carved, the back is not). Everything is very sound except for the staining. Might be an Eastlake? See last photo.
