14" x 18" This spiritual deity was created in the 70's and purchased by me while I was living in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 1977 (onward). It was hand carved into wood and then printed on a certain 'rice paper' made with certain plants only found in Nepal. This piece was hand printed and was a hand cut wood block print. I purchased this in the late 1970's when I lived in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is hand-made paper from a special plant which only grows in Nepal and which will last forever and bugs will never make holes in. Selling this beautifully executed authentic woodblock print of a dragon ~ hand printed and hand carved woodblock by the famous woodcarvers of Kathmandu, Nepal. It is printed on handmade 'lokta' paper which is wildcrafted, handmade artisan paper indigenous to Nepal. It is made from the bark of two of the species of the shrub Daphne. I bought it in 1977 when I lived in Kathmandu, Nepal. Authentic and genuine ~ not a cheap copy. Size is 13 x 17.5. Lokta, botanically known as Daphne Bhoula is an indigenous plant of Nepal found at high altitudes. My girlfriend was living in Nepal for a long time and knew all the best artisans there specializing in this particular art form and had these made. Lokta paper, also known as rice paper is famous for its strength and texture. This paper is entirely handmade and acid free. There is no machine or chemical used during the process of manufacturing and hence called an Eco-friendly paper. Lokta, commonly known as lokta paper or rice paper, has been crafted in the traditional way for more than 1500 years. Nepalese handmade products made of Lokta Paper are very popular worldwide nowadays as it is the most exquisite and versatile paper on the planet. Lokta paper is appreciated for its exceptional durability, attractive texture and strength of its fibre. It is also highly resistive to insects. It is well known that ancient religious texts and royal edicts were recorded on lokta paper and even today, many Nepalese legal and official government documents are recorded on Lokta paper. Besides this, the monks of Tibet too use it for their manuscripts and for printing sacred texts. The sacred Buddhist text "Karanya Buha Sutra" was written in Lichchavi script on Nepalese handmade paper between first and Ninth Century A.D. which is still safe in national archive in Kathmandu, Nepal. This is enough to prove that the life and the strength of Nepalese lokta paper is very high. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lokta_paper#:~:text=Nepalese%20handmade%20lokta%20paper%20is,and%20vernacularly%20as%20lokta%20bushes.
