This ultra-rare set of Technics components from the early 80's is in pristine cosmetic condition, fully bench serviced and fully operational. The covers on all three of the matching components feature real walnut veneer. The original factory boxes are included.
The outstanding (and very rare) SU-V909 stereo integrated amp is best described as "audio gold". (Because the SU-V909 was the "export-only" model it's also known in Japan as the SU-V9.) It's the very solid anchor of this fine setup; it's literally a beast! This was Technics' engineering at its finest: a high-power integrated DC amplifier featuring "New Class A" technology and a "computer drive" monitor system. The SU-V909 was the computer-drive version of the vaunted Technics SU-V9. The minimum power output is 120 watts per channel into both 8 & 4 ohms; it can easily handle almost any 4 ohm load you can throw at it and its distortion is so low it might as well be non-existent...
At 33 lbs, most of the weight of this amp is from the huge power supply transformer. The bass coming out from this ultra rare amp is astounding.
The matching ST-S707 stereo tuner, even after some 40+ years later, is still considered a "top shelf" tuner. It was (still is) state of the art as it features the famous DC peak sampling hold MPX circuitry, which further improves channel separation. Full-featured, the ST-S707 has 5 gangs and 4 filters, including wide and narrow IF bandwidth settings. There are 8 buttons and 16 presets, with the second preset engaged by holding the button down for a half-second longer when storing or recalling. The signal level readout is in dB (very nice!). This tuner pulls in stations that most other ordinary tuners don't ever see.
The matching RS-M229X stereo cassette deck is a perfect addition to this rare set of components. (It's in the wind these days that cassettes are making a comeback!) The RS-M229X is a tape deck of superior build quality, frontloading, 2-heads with Dolby B, DBX Type II and metal tape capability. Among its many features are the very cool fluoroscan digital peak-reading meters, and peak hold. The fast forward and rewind functions are super fast and the feather touch buttons are foolproof and reliable. Technics" "one touch" recording makes it a snap to make professional-sounding recordings of studio quality...at home!
