The size is 8" x 9" approximately, unfinished ends all around. I purchased this when I was exploring the Islands off of Panama. I fell in love with this tribe back in the 1970's when I first learned of them while living in the Andes and finally got to go visit them decades later. This elaborate sewing craft consists of: Layering: Multiple layers of brightly colored cotton fabric are stacked together.
Cutting and Sewing: A design is cut into the top layer, and the edges are carefully stitched down, revealing the layers beneath.
Appliqué and Embroidery: Additional details are added using appliqué and embroidery. If you look closely, you can see all the minute hand stitches! I also have a different bird one for sale. Discount for both.
