The size is 7" x 3.5" and it is 1.25" in height. Apparently, it was for specialized woodworking/mechanical or surgical tools. It features unique wooden swing-arm latches or stays, which were used to secure larger components in place during transport. It has Japan still visibly written on it. Beautiful wood with 'box joints' (also known as a finger joints). Interesting and unusual and rare.
