1989 Santana Rio, Serial # JR 206, "rare small road frame."
Excellent condition. We purchased this bike in 2004 and are the third owner. The bike has no more than 1000 miles on it.
This is a beautiful bike with the softest ride you can get. A strong Columbus Cromo double butted, 9-6-9 steel tubing road frame with a stoker shock post.
I am 5' 10" and my stoker is 5' 7". Stand over height for the captain is 30.5" and 29" for the stoker, best suited for captains 5' 8" to 5' 10" and a stoker 5' to 5' 9".
New Continental Gator Skin, Dura Skin, 700X28 tires and Sunlite Thorn Resistant Heavy Duty Tubes. New spare heavy duty tube and regular tube for the road bag.
Bike was upgrade by the second owner to a 27 speed, 3X9.
Ultegra triple front derailleur and Deore 9 speed rear derailleur with Ultegra 9 speed STI shifters.
Ultegra 9 speed chain rings 53/42T with Sakae 32T.
42T timing rings all with Blaze cranks.
Mavic T519 36H 700C wheel set with 105 hubs and Shimano 9 speed.
Deore V brakes front and standard cantilever rear.
Have an extra flat stem for the captain (Profile 10cm, 0 rise) and a riser on the stokers stem both can be easily changed to lower the bars front and rear.
Comes with everything pictured. Rear seat bag and Blackburn rear rack with tail light and hold down. Tire air pump, mounted. Four cages with bottles. Sigma Sport BC-500 trip computer and a bell you will need on the rail trail. Rear view mirror.
Includes a Yakima Tandem rack and bra.
Everything you need to take the bike anywhere and ride it and change a flat are included.
First owner found the bike too small for his wife and the second owner's wife was unhappy as a stoker. We got a little time on the bike when we first bought it but I had to stop riding and it has been sitting. Thought I was better or good enough to ride again last spring so I put the new tires and tubes on and we rode down to Greenville SC from Travelers Rest and back but it did not work out for me so we thought we should pass it on.
City limits of Hendersonville, NC (half hour south of Asheville, NC).
Come and give it a ride.
