The Nutcracker, adapted & illustrated by Warren Chappell, based on the Alexandre Dumas version of the E.T.A. Hoffmann story, with themes from music by Peter Ilyich Tschaikovsky. Alfred A Knopf, 1958. Hardback with slipcover - slipcover is torn. Inside front & back covers are slightly damaged, the rest of the book is in very good condition. For children, with brightly colored illustrations and portions of piano music included within the text. "It was Christmas Eve. Snow was falling, spreading a soft white blanket over the old city of Nuremberg." [p. 1]. $5

The Cricket in Times Square, by George Selden, drawings by Garth Williams. A Yearling Book, this edition published 1995. Received both the Newbery Medal and the Newbery Honor, representing the best in children's literature. Mass market paperback, 151 pages. Chester the cricket travels to New York City where he takes up residence in the Bellinis' newsstand in the Times Square subway station. He soon meets a boy named Mario, a mouse named Tucker, and Harry the cat. Hilarity ensues. This volume also includes a 14-page excerpt from "The Watsons Go to Birmingham" - 1963 [Chapter 1], by Christopher Paul Curtis. $5

Raggedy Ann Stories, written & illustrated by Johnny Gruelle. 1993 edition, facsimile of 1918 printing. Hardback with slipcover, in great condition. $5

Courage Books, 1989, first edition. Hardback with slipcover, 56 pages of glossy paper with full-color illustrations on nearly every page. Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White, The Bremen Town Musicians, Rapunzel, The Shoemaker and the Elves, The Frog Prince, The Fisherman and His Wife, and Hansel and Gretel. Each story is 3-4 pages long. A delightful large picture book made for reading to children. This appears to be a rarer edition with the painting of Cinderella on the front of the slipcover. 10" x 13 1/4" x 1/4". $10
