Newell post from a very old home in Eastern North Carolina. Pine, possible pitch pine. Painted, and has some cracks which are not structural but are visible. From the center of very old logs. Se some square nails that connected it in place before it was removed. The smaller one in the photos is no longer available.
48" tall and 8" square at the bottom, no notch. It is very heavy!
