— written on “The Hardware Reporter” stationery, 187__
— 2 thimbles—1 brass, 1 silver-colored
— 2 removable celluloid thread spools + 1 separate eliptical-shaped celluloid spool w/ thread
— 3 cloisonné pieces, including a letter wax seal
— small embroidery scissors (w/ hieroglyphics for maker?), hook, knife w/ mother-of-pearl blade, 2 thimbles
—sterling silver nameplate of box maker: “B. P. Darling, Shortsville NY”
— Bernard Pettit Darling is my husband’s great great grandfather, who made this sewing box for his daughter Inez Darling, born in 1871.
