For sale is a very large, finely carved, solid hardwood murti (devotional statue) of GODDESS LAKSHMI, the revered Hindu goddess of wealth, abundance, and spiritual prosperity. Lakshmi is worshipped throughout India and beyond as the bringer of fortune, grace, and auspiciousness.
This radiant and commanding figure shows Lakshmi seated serenely on a lotus pedestal — the lotus symbolizing purity, divine beauty, and spiritual unfolding. She is depicted in a traditional four-armed form, holding lotus flowers in two hands and gesturing with the other two: one in abhaya mudra (offering fearlessness and protection), and one in varada mudra (granting boons and blessings). Her expression is calm, benevolent, and deeply peaceful.
Carved in high relief from a single block of richly grained hardwood — likely teak or rosewood — the statue features remarkable detail: elaborate jewelry, intricate headdress, cascading hair, and layered drapery. The artist’s craftsmanship is especially evident in the ornate lotus base, swirling motifs, and rhythmic textures across the figure’s limbs and garments. The statue has been stained a warm brown and oiled to a soft sheen, enhancing its sculptural depth.
The style and iconography suggest South Indian origins, and the statue was likely produced in the late 20th or early 21st century. This is a devotional object — not a tourist carving — and it carries a strong spiritual presence.
Weight: substantial — will require two people to move safely.
This Lakshmi murti is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. It would be a powerful centerpiece for a home altar, temple room, meditation space, yoga center, or collection of Asian art and spiritual sculpture.
