Salutations, I am a 33 year old man who was born here and would like to get something off my mind. We the citizens of Asheville need to save, in my opinion, a landmark; The Biltmore Square Mall. The Biltmore Square Mall is at a perfect place, especially for those who don’t want to always go to the Asheville Mall. I know it has lost itself and I believe I know what can save it, IF the owners would just do it. Here is a list of what I believe could save it.

• Lower the rent on the store areas for at least a year or two.
• Get some brand name stores that people would want to shop at, Macy’s, Old Navy, Gap, Suncoast, and so on.
• ADVERTISE! They could advertise by the TV stations, send mailers, especially on local channels like URTV, and the Carolina channel. Even create a monthly bargain magazine with monthly sales at stores, coupons for restaurants, even monthly contests and special occasions.
• Bring back stores like Spencer’s Gifts and restaurants like Cookie Company.

I am not a business major or anything like that. I am not rich, or even employed at the moment. I am, however, a guy who believes in the greatness of the Biltmore Square Mall. The area around it is building up more and more. I know that a recession is on right now, but building up the Biltmore Square Mall would help the economy in Asheville. The Biltmore Square Mall has still got a great movie theater in the form of Cinebarre. I may sound like a quack but I do love the Biltmore Square Mall. I worked there for six years at the theater when it was United Artist then Regal.

Please, let us not let this fine mall die. I know that there are a lot of people out of a job right now, but I do believe we as a city can save it. I think one way we can save it ourselves is if we write to stores like Macy’s and try to get them to come to the Biltmore Square Mall. Write to the owners of the Biltmore Square Mall. I was told by someone who shall remain nameless that the people of Asheville don’t care about that mall, and I would like to prove him wrong. I am going to try and find a way to contact the owners myself and try to discuss it with them. Well, to everyone in Asheville I say we can do it, good luck, and PEACE OUT.
