Summary: The Mountain Retreat and Learning Center seeks a creative and experienced Director of Marketing and Sales to join its dynamic team. The Director of Marketing and Sales provides leadership and vision in the development, implementation and evaluation of all marketing and sales efforts in support of The Mountain’s mission, vision and organizational goals. The successful candidate, a senior staff member, will be expected to set the marketing and sales direction to sustain and grow The Mountain’s overall revenue.
The Mountain is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just outside the town of Highlands, North Carolina. Protected in a conservation easement, our 84 acre site at 4200 feet atop Little Scaly Mountain is a rare and pristine environment. Through the Retreat and the Learning Center, participants, staff, volunteers and Residents, share in experiences that increase their capacity to live lives of sustained commitment to the common good and lives that stem from a sense of meaning and purpose. The Mountain offers retreat groups and program participants reflective time in nature, a vibrant community that embraces pluralism, and an ethos of caring.
The person chosen for this position will: Coordinate our adult ESL program & our Homework Help Program for children. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, interview & train volunteers and provide ongoing support. They will also be responsible for recruiting volunteers to assist with other programs and services we offer.

Clean Water for NC, a progressive statewide non-profit organization with a diverse Board of Directors and membership, is seeking an articulate, self-motivated person with a demonstrated commitment to social justice and environmental accountability to lead research and outreach for our Water Justice Campaign (privatization, water pricing, efficiency) and communication with our members, impacted communities, print and broadcast media. The Coordinator will assist in editing our quarterly newsletter, Clean Currents, preparation of occasional research reports and news releases, and will carry out limited administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
* Excellent oral, written and listening communications skills in diverse settings
* Good “connector” for community involvement, advocacy
* Demonstrated commitment to social justice, activism, community empowerment
* Enjoyment of outside and investigative activities
* At least 15 hr. science or environmental coursework
* Experience with writing for the public and internet-based research
* NC Driver’s License and access to reliable vehicle
* Flexibility to changing schedule, occasional overnight travel and weekend events
Preferred Qualifications:
* Fluency in Spanish
* Experience with website and publications design, database software, social media
* Some experience fundraising, applying for grants
Initially, this position(s) will be 30 hours per week, based in our Asheville office, for a six month contract, and paid at the rate of at least $14.50/hour, depending on experience. Benefits include vacation time and prorated health insurance reimbursement. We anticipate that the Organizer/Coordinator would become full time, increasingly involved in community organizing and technical assistance programs.
