MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Generally, full-time Support Staff, who commit to work at least one year, must have a Bachelors Degree. Generally, the Support Staff person will be 21 or above (18 is the minimum age) and will spend a very active year at CooperRiis on their way to other life experiences. Interns or summer volunteers may spend as little as 1 to 3 months at CooperRiis during their BA educational experience. Alternately, CooperRiis also encourages volunteers for the role of Support Staff as well. The Support Staff member must demonstrate that he or she has work or life experience that has thoroughly tested his or her relationship skills. Work experience with individuals who are coping with serious and persistent mental illness is helpful but not necessary.

Typically, the Support Staff will work the same Work Program schedule as the residents. Given that the Support Staff member has a 40-hour work week commitment, (and if you do not work a full 40 hours on your assigned tasks, you may be asked to assist with organized group activities on-site or off-site). An exception may be the Support Staff person who receives a permanent assignment to a particular work area. In that case, the Manager may schedule additional hours for the Support Staff person, as allowed by the Work Training and Creative Arts Program Director. In short, each Support Staff’s role and schedule will be highly individualized and may change weekly.
(NOTE: These duties may change at any given time, this is just a basis for the position). There is no guarantee of a position if any come open, but you will be given first opportunity for a paid position.
