I am a majoring in Early Childhood Development, but have taken a break (due to the wedding and move) and have been babysitting during my time off. Most of my childcare background is infant care, but I am capable of caring for ages 5 weeks to 10 years old. I'm active and love being outdoors, but curling up on the sofa with a good book is one of my favorite things! T.V. time is typically a special treat (and normally only used as a last resort), because I have tons of fun ideas for us to do to pass our time. If the weather is nice, we can enjoy strolls down the street or we could play at the park.

Currently, I do not have my CPR/First Aid certification, but as soon as things are more settled, I plan on taking the class (my goal is to have it by February 1, 2010).
I have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
I love animals (and have a few of my own), so helping out with them is never a problem.
I also have professional home and office cleaning, if you are looking for that.

Please contact me for my excellent references and to discuss exact rates. Typically for one infant (under a year), is $8/hr and then $10/hr for anyone else. Of course if you need a lot of hours a week, I would give you a weekly rate. Cleaning, cooking, and pet care are extra.

Information about my family: We live on 4 acres in the Mills River area. We have three sweet kids of our own. They are age 4,8 and 12. My husband and I are a Christian family with Christian morals. Our childcare license is in both of our names and our future goal is for my husband to graduate the Early childhood education program in which he is currently enrolled in and open a large family childcare center from our home. We are also in the process of planning a summer day camp for school age children this summer. We will be teaching the kids about outdoor activities such as ropes, fishing hiking, archery and camping. These are some of the activities that we have a high interest in and participate in already as a family.

My son is very energetic, and needs plenty of active play right now. I know this will be difficult because the weather is about to get cold and nasty, but I really don't want him in a situation where he'll be stuck indoors all day. I would really like to find some parents that share some of the same parenting philosophies that I have, including avoiding gender stereotyping, avoiding toy guns/war-related toys, encouraging interest in the outdoors, and maybe doing fun stuff like gardening when the weather gets warm enough. My son plays really well with other children and is very gentle with younger kids, and is usually very cooperative. He is already potty trained (although he still needs the occasional reminder to flush/wash hands properly). He doesn't really take afternoon naps anymore, but we usually try to have an hour of quiet time (reading or some kind of quiet play) after lunchtime. Right now he particularly loves dancing to bouncy music, reading/storytime, puppies, and he's really trying to understand how the world works right now (Definitely in a constant "What's that?"/"Why" phase, and he really appreciates it when people explain the mysteries of the universe to him).
